Xbox: I agree that from a man's point of view knowing the sex helps. For example knowing I was having a boy I pictured doing all the fun guy things. If I was having a girl I would picture her playing with her dolls, and being my little princess. I'm not sure what kind of activities little girls do with their dads, but I'm sure I could figure it out.

George: I'm glad you got the boy that you wanted! That is awesome! When we got our ultrasound the tech did the same thing. She typed "It's A Boy" on the screen. I've never been excited to see another penis, but I was that day! ;)

Alex D.: I know they say that real men wear pink, but I, like you, would never dress my son in pink on purpose. It's hard to tell the sex of some newborn babies. Why add to the confusion, ya know? I even avoided dressing my boy in green and yellow until he was a little older and it was more obvious that he was a boy.

I do not have any kids yet, but I think i will find out the sex. I used to think otherwise, but I believe it is a smarter decision to find out the sex. Like you said, I do not want my boy wearing pink lol

My wife and I wanted to know the sex right away. We were hoping for a boy and we got it. We had the ultrasound tech print the photo of the penis to confirm.
It's much easier to prepare if you know the sex. For the next baby, boy or girl doesnt matter.

Personally I would definitely want to know, the way I see it there will be enough surprises in store once the wee bugger shows up.

I think, from a man's point of view at least, knowing the sex helps, it gives you the chance to envisage your future role, which like it or not, will differ depending on the sex. I genuinely wouldn't have a preference for one sex over the other, ideally you'ld get to experience both anyway, but it would help me prepare.

two sets of friends have had children in the last 7 weeks and neither knew the sex until the birth, and I know 1 set at least were very surprised, which makes me think they had mentally prepared themselves for the opposite.

I would keep it secret from everyone else though, they can have the surprise !
