Not that kinda swinger, you sicko! 😀
Everyone knows that I frequent Craigslist and find free stuff, like mowers… I’ve been called “The King Of FREE Stuff!” by some friends. Not sure that is a good thing, but I have found some good deals. 😀
Recently I came across another killer deal (AKA FREE)…a swingset!
I found this gem on FreeCycle. (Thanks Sara for being so generous and giving away such a wonderful swing set!)
Momma and I went over to Sara’s house and had to tear the swing set apart far enough that it would fit into the back of my truck. It had not been used in years. It was covered with dirt and moss…but that did not discourage us. We brought the swing set home anyways…
Momma and Grandma S cleaned this swing set up with a little bleach and some elbow grease to like-new condition. 😀
After a few hours of cleaning and reassembling the swing set it was ready to go.
Ace seems to like free stuff too! Here’s proof… 😀
- Free Swingset From FreeCycle
- Flying High!
- This looks dangerous!
- And what exactly is this “Rocket”?
- Push Dad…Push!
- My Happy Little Swinger!
- Again Dad…Again!
- “Sliding Is My Favorite!”
- It’s A Bird. It’s A Plane. No, It’s…What is that Dad?
- Chillin’ On The SLide
- Weeee!
FreeSource and FreeCycle rock! We got a ton of baby stuff on Craigslist too. Lots of moms and dads are on FreeSource/Cycle.
One of my favorite things about being a parent is nobody calls you names for being cheap, er, I mean, resourceful.
Ace looks like he’s having a blast. Go DadThing!
@Elliott –
Thanks Elliot! It is addictive I think. 😀 Whenever I want something I always look at the free sites online first. Why pay when you don’t have to?
Very cool find! I too frequent free cycle though I am not always fast enough to grab the items!
@Dad of Divas –
I just got lucky. Everytime I have replied to one of the postings it was already gone. I got lucky and was the first to reply this time. 😀 Keep trying you’ll eventually get something good!
Some people have a knack for finding great deals. You, sir, have definitely got a knack.
@Ed (zoesdad) –
Thanks Ed!
That thing looks brand spankin’ new. Congrats on the great find!
I too frequent Craigslist. It’s like crack.
@Greg –
It is like crack. 😀 Addictive as hell.
FreeCycle rocks. The swingset is a great find. Congrats. It looks like fun. I wish I had a backyard to put one of those things in.
@VegasDad –
We’re lucky in the back yard department. We have a deck, a pool, a swingset, a couple clotheslines, a shed, and still have some grass to play in. My neice calls our back yard the park. 😀
Free Is always better 😉 Looks like Ace is enjoying to the fullest!
Hey one more things thats so unfair….Mom & Granny cleaned it & while playing why its just dad, dad & dad “Push Dad push” “Again Dad again”. So Jared you just played did not you? Gotta You 😀
@Annie –
Hey now! 😀 I put the thing together. It just so happened that when I took the pics Momma was getting her nails done or something, so it was Dad that was pushing the swing. Momma also plays with hm on the swingset, just usually during the day when I am at work. 😀
Hi, what a cool find! And fun pictures! Your son is a cutie pie! This is my first time to your blog. I will be back. Stop by my blog anytime.
@Debbie Davis –
Hi Debbie! Thanks for commenting! Definitely come back! I’ll check out your blog too!
You really do get the best free stuff .. He looks like he is having a BLAST!!!
@Kim –
Thanks Kim! For some reason all the kids like our house. I wonder why? 😀
How bloody old has he gotten!
Such a different in a few months.
@Xbox4NappyRash –
Tell me about it! He’s 16 months old now. I was going through pictures the other night and couldn’t believe how much older he looks now! Damn they grow up fast. 😀
I will have to start to check out this free stuff sites. It does seem though as you are the master of free things. I get excited when the Burger King messes up and I get some free fries. I would go BANANAs over a free swing set or lawn tractor….Awesome. You will have to share the tricks of the trade in a post one day.
Keep up the cheapness …erhhh …resourcefulness.
@JustDaddys.Net –
God idea. I might have to make a Craigslist Guide For Parents ebook or something… 😀
yep… you’re going to get some curious hits on this on.
@rachel –
😀
Jered, I’m glad you are getting good use out of that swing set. This is definitely a freecycle success story. It was used when given to us many years ago. It was definitely not free to you with all the work (elbow greese) that went into making it ‘new’ again. I thought I described it’s condition on freecycle well (“power sprayer didn’t clean it up. It may need a
strong soap and a scrub brush, I don’t know if that will even do it”). I showed your picture to a friend and he is sure it is not the same swingset that was in my back yard. Thanks for removing that eye sore from my back yard. Thanks for the pictures. Your son is a cutie!
@Sara –
Sara, You did describe it well. I hope my post did not make it sound like it was not what I expected… It was exactly what I expected! I never expect anything free to be perfect. If it was perfect…you probably wouldn’t have given it up for free. 😀
Ace loves his swing set! And he could talk, I’m sure you’d be one of his favorite people right now… 😀
