No worries, in a few years it will be Xbox or Wii making all the noise in your house.
If I may suggest, I have a battery holder installed by my work bench. It's always ready when the next toy shows up for our 6 year old (The nine-year old has graduated to the Wii).

So sad, but true. To quote an email I wrote just before Christmas...

"we really want to avoid more and more toys and things electronic - which seems to be just about everything these days."

And, I sent our a link to here:
http://www.non-toxickids.net/2008/11/non-toxic-kids-gift-guide-top-10-online.html

Right now, a box of tissues keeps my little one more entertained than Teddy Ruxpin ever did for my (much) younger sister.

@LA Daddy: True. The box is always the coolest part. :D

@Momo: I know! You never know if you need a philips or a straight screwdriver...a big one or a small one...and what if that little ribbon thing wasn't put in the battery compartment right? Good luck getting them suckers out of there!

Yeah, the noisy toys are a pain. Like TV, it's one more way to take away the kid's imagination. Why make your own siren noise, engine revs, and push the truck around? Let the truck do it for you...

But, it's probably why the kids eventually prefer the box the truck came in.
