Norelco SensoTouch 3D 1250

Norelco SensoTouch 3DIt has been many years since I have used an electric razor.  I think I had my first electric razor when I was 16.  It was my Grandpa’s old one.  I did not like it at all.     It irritated my skin something fierce!

But that was over 16 years ago…I figured it was time to give it another try and was lucky enough to get the opportunity to review the Norelco SensoTouch 3D 1250.   This is what I would consider a high dollar razor.  I saw it on the shelves at Target for $175 before Christmas, so I figured it must be a good one.

My first impression as I opened the box was, “Wow!”  This thing just looks cool and sleek.  It has a very sturdy grip with a flexible head.

The battery was dead when I first got it, but after just only 10 minutes on the charger I was able to complete the entire shave with no problem.

The first time I shaved with it my skin did get a little irritated, but the documents that came with the razor said this is normal…so I kept trying.   I initially tried dry shaving and my skin did not like it.  So I tried wet shaving with shaving gel in the shower.  This worked much better and my skin was way less irritated.

I was a little bit skeptical of putting this razor in the shower, but the documents said that the device was waterproof and it was right.  I never had the first problem with the razor in the shower.

The razor was very easy to clean.  You simply pop back the three shaving heads and rinse it under water.  There was no clogging at all and I never had to anything other thans run it under water to bring it back to a brand new appearance.

The only thing I did not like about the razor was how close it cuts.  I am used to using a manual razor and get a very close shave with nearly zero irritation.  I shave my face and my head as well.  I like my head to be “baby butt smooth”.  :)   With the electric razor that did not happen.  No matter how many times I went over my face or head it would not get to the point of “baby butt smooth”.  There was always some stubble.

Overall it is a very nice razor with some very nice features!  However it is above my price range and does not shave as close as I would like it too.  If  you are used to electric razors this thing would probably be the cat’s pajamas, but for me…I will probably use my manual razor most of the time and break out the electric razor for a change of pace…

Slippery When Wet!

ShavingSystem-aI shave.  I shave a lot.  It takes me a while to do a good job and not miss any spots.  Especially on my big ole’ noggin!  :D

One problem with not being able to see what you are shaving(the back of my head) is that I have to go over it a few dozen times to get everything.

This leads to skin irritation.

I remember the first time I shaved my head.  If I had a dollar for every infected/ingrown hair I wouldn’t have to work again for the rest of my life.  I was miserable!

I tried every shaving cream, after shave, and shaving lotion until I found something that worked.

Then a few months later I was asked to review the Skin Therapy Shaving System by Shaver’s Choice.

The Slick shave gel squeezed out of it’s tube and was completely clear.  There was no PFFFTTT as it puffed up in my hand like I was used to.  I rubbed it on my head and face and instantly noticed how slippery my skin was.

I guess that is the beauty behind this stuff.  It lubricates your skin to keep the razor from nicking and cutting.

I gotta say that it worked well, on my head…but I did not like to use it on my face. Why?

I have always had a problem with getting razor bumps on my neck.  It does not matter if I go with or against the grain, use plain water or some super shaving cream…it still gets irritated from time to time.

I think this stuff was a bit too slick and caused me to push a bit harder on the razor to get the wild hairs growing out of my neck.  :D   But then again, I still have not found a shaving cream or gel that works 100% of the time on my neck area.

The samples provided also included the Smooth Skin Therapy for use after shaving with the Slick shave gel.

I used the Smooth product twice and didn’t try it again.  It was just too oily.  It left my skin shiny and the smell wasn’t the greatest either.

So, in conclusion…I really like the Slick shave gel for shaving my entire head minus my neck…which has always been a trouble area.  It  left my skin feeling nice and smooth even after a rigorous shave.  The after shave lotion, Smooth?  Not for me.
