Are We Keeping You Awake At Night?

Ace Enjoying The Christmas Lights

Ace Enjoying The Christmas Lights

One of the good things about being a Dad (at least that is the excuse I use) is that you get to do some pretty cool stuff…like hang Christmas lights.  Yeah, it’s cool if you like hanging off the edge of the roof, dangling off of a ladder 20 feet in the air, and spendig countless hours going through that strand of lights that doesn’t work because the very last bulb that you decide to check is burned out.  And I can’t help but mention this is all done in the coldest of seasons…Winter.

Now, I’m not bitching.  I really do like to hang Christmas lights.  I take a lot of pride in how the house gets decorated for the Holiday Seasons.

I’ve never been a big fan of colored lights.  My mom always bought the clear bulbs…and so the tradition lives on.  Something about the brightness of a well decorated house sends shivers down my spine…or maybe it is the 20 degree weather these days. 😀

Now, while our house isn’t quite spine shivering worthy, I am proud of the job that I have done.  But, I am sure that the neighbors across the street are going to have to buy some extra thick curtains just to be able to sleep at night. 😀

Ace came outside and ran around the yard tripping on the extension cords strung to and fro, but it was a bit to cold for him being less than two years old…not to mention he is starting to get over a pretty bad cold that I would hate to see return to full strength tomorrow.  Maybe next year he can help hang the lights…now that would be cool!  😀

You did a GREAT job!!! Your house looks wonderful!!!

And that first picture of Ace is too cute!! Glad to hear he is feeling better.

    • Jared says:

Kim, thank you! Ace loves to be outside…no matter how cold it is. I think his fingers would actually fall off before he would notice. ;D

Looks great. A job well done. And luckily you weren’t injured during installation. I didn’t do the house this year. Instead just the tree and bushes out front. We used colored lights (gasp!!!).

VegasDad, thanks! I’m always afraid I am going to fall off of the roof or the ladder and then end up spending Christmas in the hospital in traction or something crazy like that. 😀 Colored lights are cool too…just not for me. ;D

I vetoed Christmas lights this year! Last year my wife wanted the iceicle ones so I went out and bought those, hung them in 20 MPH winds, then they froze and stopped working a week before Christmas!!

I refused to buy a new set and go through it agian. Next year will be my daughter’s first Christmas so I am sure I will change my stance then.

Hi Adam! Thanks for visiting! I never went all out before we had Ace either. I’d put up a few strands, but now I have a reason to get a little crazy with the decors. 😀

Love the decorations! They look so nice! So Ace still isn’t wearing gloves huh? Stubborn just like his dad! =)

    • Jared says:

Amber, thanks! Nope, still no gloves…although you may have noticed that the hood was on…and with no crying about it. 😀 Progress…

XBox, I asked Santa to pay my electric bill for the Winter. I’ve been a good little boy this year…except for that one time I, uh….shit, guess that bill isn’t getting paid. 😀

  5. It looks good! You did a great job. One of these days, your little man will fully appreciate what you do.

Our family has owned our home for six years now. So when we go outside to decorate, we can get it done in less than three hours. I have a picture of our decorated house on my blog.

    Merry Christmas!

Dude, that Ace is one cute kid. You got it right leaving out the colored lights, not that I am a light racist, but the clear ones just look better/less tacky. Also, you are over the top my man, I stop at the bushes.
