The cross support beam is supposed to run in the opposite angle. It supports the gate and prevents sagging over time. Looks nice, but functionally, you could fix it easily.
This was built in 2009. 8 years later and it is still functioning fine…barely sagging. I understand the above comments about the bracing being the wrong way…, but I think the most important aspect of it not sagging is that every fence slat was nailed to the diagonal board in at least two places. This helps prevent it from pivoting and therefore sagging.
your diagonal bracing should go from the top to the bottom on the post side
